Acceptance at AFC

In my view this was borderline to accept. Rather than allowing it to languish and eventually fall foul of G13 I chose to accept it and allow the community to reach a conclusion.

Origin of the drilling rig?

I'm aware of WP:OR but bear with me.

I can't find a single scrap of info anywhere on the Internet on

1. Where in the North Sea this platform used to be 2. When it was built 3. When it was decommissioned 4. Where in the Netherlands it was refurbished 5. What its name used to be

Given the stated dismantling in two days, I think it'd be a shame not to track down and cite any of this for future historians. It is an essential part of the history of the structure. ElectronicsForDogs (talk) 00:39, 19 November 2022 (UTC)

I agree that it would be good to know See Monster's former identity. I've also looked into it and it may have been one of the Amethyst platforms (run an image search and you'll see they look like See Monster). However, there is simply no information online to confirm this and so it seems redundant to have the request sitting there indefinitely. Helpful987 (talk) 22:48, 19 November 2022 (UTC)

FWIW a recent SomersetLive article claims it is a "450 tonne former gas platform". I checked the article and pleased we don't claim it was an "oil rig", though some of the cite titles do. When I visited, one of the staff said it had been used as an accommodation platform in its late life, but of course no cite for that. Rwendland (talk) 13:57, 20 November 2022 (UTC)

NB the creative director calls it an "oil rig" in the extlink interview I recently added, so the cites are quite contradictory, so we are sound to just call it an "offshore platform" in the article.Rwendland (talk) 17:33, 20 November 2022 (UTC)
