The 2nd Area Army had nothing to do with the Kwantung army, it was based on New Guinea and later on Celebes. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Reibeisen (talk • contribs) 20:21, 4 June 2015 (UTC)Reply

It was activated Activated 1942-7-1 in western Manchuria according to the Pacific War Online Encyclopedia (http://pwencycl.kgbudge.com/oob/jap.php?unit=2_Area_Army), which is probably taking its information from Madej. It was redeployed to New Guinea and Netherlands East Indies 1943-10. But, yeah, the article is badly incomplete. --Yaush (talk) 21:09, 4 June 2015 (UTC)Reply
