I just had a quick look at US Patent #5,844,577 and I'm not really convinced. It is not about hotspots in general (which were quite common in 1996, as the patent text actually points out), but image masks defining "active" pixels. - Armin B. Wagner (talk) 09:10, 10 July 2013 (UTC)Reply
