68th Greatest Metal Singer?

If his enumeration was the 68th greatest Bollywood film it might be easier to take that number with a straight face. While I don't doubt there have been tens or hundreds of thousands of singers who have performed music in the metal genre, I'd be somewhat surprised if the total number of metal bands that have released professional albums is as high as 1500, a little less than one new metal band per week since Iron Maiden released "The Number of the Beast". The fact that the cited source could cobble together a list of 100 notable metal singers is impressive, but does not really indicate that all of the 100 were of high or even fair quality.

As it stands the reference looks like an attempt by Stapp's agent to create a false impression of high critical regard in people with poor reading comprehension and math skill. While the information is strictly correct, I'd suggest it runs afoul of NPOV since people favorable to Stapp will see it as praise and people unfavorable to him will see it as a subtle insult.

1. Suicide Attempt

Right now it says: He later said that instead of killing himself, he fired a few rounds in his home. He said, "I was in the throes of prednisone coming out of my body [...] I shot a few rounds off and instantly was like, 'What the hell am I doing?' So I put the guns away and ran out to the garage and got the putty and patched the holes. (63 Citation)

Change it to:

"Addressing a 2003 incident in a 2009 interview with Spin, Stapp clarified that reports of a suicide attempt were mischaracterized, stating, 'It was just a thought. But when I did an interview and shared the story of that moment, it got blown into something bigger. But I was at a low point. Thank God I didn’t act on it.' Why: The text cites the 2009 Spin Magazine interview, but the quote is wrong. Scott didn't actually say that entire block of text. The first half ("He later said that instead of killing himself, he fired a few rounds in his home") was actually a question asked by the interviewer, John Sellers. Scott just responded to it. He also mentions in the same interview when asked about his suicide attempt: “That was mischaracterized a bit. It was just a thought. But when I did an interview and shared the story of that moment, it got blown into something bigger. But I was at a low point. Why:The current text misrepresents the nature of the lawsuit, the legal context, and the financial outcome. It leaves out a key fact reported in Billboard's original 2006 coverage: the tape was unauthorized and had been stolen from Stapp's private property. It also states that the defendant agreed to "pay Stapp an undisclosed sum," but that is not what the cited 2007 Billboard source says. According to the article, the financial settlement was between the tape's distributor and a separate media group, not Stapp himself. In fact, the article includes a statement from Stapp's attorney specifically clarifying that Stapp did not receive any money from the settlement. As written this entry gives readers a misleading impression of both the lawsuit and its outcome by suggesting Stapp financially benefited from the distribution of stolen private material, even though the cited source explicitly says otherwise. Because of the inaccuracy, if possible, I would like this taken out completely or changed to what I requested above.

3. 2006 Addiction Context

Right now it says: “In a 2006 Rolling Stone interview, Stapp acknowledged that he had become addicted to Percocet, Xanax, and was withdrawing from prednisone for vocal cord inflammation during Creed's tour in support of Weathered.” (Citation 73).

Change it to:

Why: In the 2006 Rolling Stone interview and other biographical accounts, Stapp clarified that during the Weathered tour, he was prescribed massive, toxic doses of prednisone solely to treat severe vocal cord inflammation so the band wouldn't have to cancel stadium dates. The dependency on Percocet and Xanax developed after the tour as a direct result of coping with the severe physical crash and psychological withdrawal from the prednisone. So those two drugs should be talked about as a precription, not like a street drug addiction.
