Dates to clear up
[edit]- Opening of Pisces Bookshop: one source says Val returned to New Zealand in 1973,[1] another that Pisces opened in October 1972.[2]
- David Cameron taking over Pisces: in one interview he says 1975,[3] in other sources 1976[4] or 1977.[5][6] In a 2001 news story Cameron can't recall when he first heard about Pisces—1976 or 77.[7] One complication is Scorpio's About page, where they claim David bought the business in 1975,[8] is not completely accurate: for example they say they adopted the current name in 1976, but this quite clearly happened in February 1979.[1]
- The date the Riccarton Road shop opened is also unclear: some sources say March,[9] others April,[10] but the relocation of books from the damaged Hereford Street building definitely happened on 11 May.[11]

- Update: after meeting with the proprietors, we have established that Cameron took over Pisces in 1976, and the Riccarton Road shop opened in April 2011, though the lease was secured in March. We have good published sources for both. — Giantflightlessbirds (talk) 04:34, 6 August 2026 (UTC)
