I've just created this article - I think it's important to put science outreach on the map with its own article, complementing existing articles about informal science education such as the one about science museums.

Two remarks:

I'm a physicist, and the outreach examples I've added are consequently quite physics-heavy. I'd appreciate if those involved in/knowledgeable of other outreach efforts could add their examples as well.

Secondly, in the subsection Online outreach I'd have liked to add a paragraph like

"While most outreach websites are tied to specific institutions, there are also cooperative websites with contributions by scientists from a variety of institutes. An example is Einstein Online, a cooperative relativity outreach site."

However, as I'm the editor of Einstein Online, there's a conflict of interest, so I'm only putting that paragraph here - if one of you thinks it's a reasonable addition, please add this or a similar paragraph to the article itself. Markus Poessel 11:34, 8 April 2007 (UTC)Reply

Alright, I guess one can be too careful. I've added it myself. Markus Poessel (talk) 09:32, 16 February 2009 (UTC)Reply
