Today the word "scarab" refers usually to beetles which belong to the family Scarabaeidae, but according to the OED, the word originally refers to the dung beetle. Read the article Khepri (and books about Eyptian myths) and one can see that ppl use "scarab" to refer to the dung beetles. So it seems more precise, at the risk of being fussy, to have a disambig page.--K.C. Tang 01:43, 24 March 2006 (UTC)Reply
