Icthus means fish

[edit]

The article states "Written above the square is the word "ICHTHUS", which directly translates as a term for Christ." While it is a direct reference to Christ, this is poorly worded as it is literally the Greek word for fish. 103.240.228.211 (talk) 12:26, 1 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Fixed that now. thanks. Aszx5000 (talk) 13:04, 14 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

American Author

[edit]

Sir Terry Pratchett did indeed include Sator Square in the Discworld novels -- but why is a non-notable American author mentioned here? It reads like a self-insert for publicity. 2A00:23C4:D14A:4B01:7939:EED9:B7DF:323 (talk) 14:15, 30 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

The fact that he has a Wikipedia article means that he is notable, and the face that a person independent of TP chronicles TP's use of the square makes the fact even more notable for this article. Unfortunately, there have been a lot of attempts to add non-notable uses of the sator square into the "In popular culture" section. Aszx5000 (talk) 14:40, 30 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

AREPO Meaning New Theory

[edit]

"AREPO" is now theorized (Bob Greenyer, a low energy nuclear reaction researcher) to be an abbreviation for "from Alpha repeat to Omega," meaning "eternity in all things at all times." This roughly translates the square as "The creator eternally keeps and works all things in spirals/vortexes" which supports ancient alchemic processes and serves as a western version of the yin-yang symbol. ~2026-32343 (talk) 15:45, 2 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

That is the "paternoster theory" that is in the article which has been downgraded. The use of the terms Alpha and Omega post-date the earliest dates from which the square was found, and thus would not have featured in the origial design of the square. Aszx5000 (talk) 12:22, 24 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
