What is the molecular weight of the triglyceride present for butter fat having a saponification value of 320.

"If there are more moles of potassium hydroxide (KOH) used for 1 gram of fat then there are more moles of the fat." is not a complete sentence. Also, this entry makes it sound like sap values for NaOH and KOH are interchangeable. Hardly, the KOH value should be 140% of that for NaOH, to account for the additional mass of K, since the hydroxide concentration is what is of utmost importance. --Belg4mit 21:46, 7 May 2007 (UTC)Reply

Saponification Value not applicable?

"The calculated saponification value is not applicable to fats and oils containing high amounts of unsaponifiable material, free fatty acids (>0.1%), or mono- and diacylglycerols (>0.1%)." This is not true. Saponification value is applicable for any substance which contains saponifiable compounds. Maybe the writer meant that the calculated molar mass of the fatty acids is not applicable. Comments? I'll change it in a few days if nobody responds.
