Samuel Boyce and Samuel Boyse

[edit]

A warning about a trap I nearly fell into editing this article: it's easy to confuse this Samuel Boyce (d 1779) with Samuel Boyse, an Irish poet who died in 1749, and is also spelt "Boyce" in many sources. Samuel Johnson knew Boyse well, and also knew Boyce or at least subscribed to one of his books. I'm going to remove the reference to Boyce dying in Shoe Lane from the article; Boyse is widely reported as dying there, and it seems too much of a coincidence.Ruskinmonkey (talk) 18:33, 22 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
