Egregious removal of content

As the latest edit summary says: Restored content that was egregiously removed in April 2019—also a blatant breach of both WP:PRESERVE and WP:NPA. More citations to be added when the article is expanded. The article was a useful stub in April 2019, ready for expansion and development. Instead, through the irresponsible actions of User:Blue Square Thing, it was degraded into a bad stub without reliable sources, as both CricketArchive and Haygarth were removed instead of utilised.

In addition, Redgate's places of birth and death were removed, and so was the entire paragraph about his pace, the injury to Mynn, and the resultant introduction of batting pads. Also, the readers were told that Redgate did not play for Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club, which was founded in 1841. Instead, he played for something called "Nottinghamshire sides" until 1846. This was shoddy, sub-standard, and careless work which reduced a potentially good article into something of inferior quality.

What use is an editor who cannot articulately develop an article? Removing content breaches PRESERVE, yes, but it also betrays our readers. It is, of course, absolutely typical of Blue Square Thing to try and wreck an article instead of trying to improve it. While patriotism may be the "last refuge of the scoundrel", egregious removal of content is the sole refuge of the inept and the incompetent. Jack (talk) 00:03, 13 March 2026 (UTC)
