Is the expensive bill story relevant?

I note that under controversies, there's a mention of an expensive bill at one of his restaurants. Granted, the mention is focused on the media reaction to it, which is fair, but the story itself I believe is irrelevant to a wiki article about the man. I mean, the expensive bill included a number of bottles of the most expensive wine in the world (Petrus 2003), can hardly complain that it's expensive. it appears to be an expected attack from gutter clickbait journalists (e.g. Hull Live is a reference) and something I wouldn't expect to be noted in Wikipedia. 37.228.203.133 (talk) 16:22, 10 September 2022 (UTC)

Salt Bae caricature bust

This clay sculpture is captioned as

A caricature bust art piece inside a public library in Sydney, Australia depicting Salt Bae, bearing the inscription "#Downfall" across its chest, a commentary on the public backlash and perceived decline of his fame.

Was it made by the photographer who added it to the article, User:Nikoletic126? Has it just been placed briefly on a library desk for the purpose of taking a photo?

No, I did not create the bust, it was part of a series of public art installations of various clay busts inside of a school library on my trip in Sydney, Australia which I photographed in situ while it was being moved by staff for an Open Day in 2025.

While the piece is informal, it is still relevant under Wikipedia's guidelines as an example of how Salt Bae is interpreted in contemporary popular culture. Caricature is a common form of cultural representation, and such depictions reflect a range of public attitudes and depictions like this help keep the article neutral. Criticism of him is the topic of the paragraph I attached the image with. The bust visually demonstrates how he was ridiculed after his controversies. Its placement alongside sourced discussion of criticism and public reception is intended to provide a visual example of this broader context, without asserting that the image itself represents any specific viewpoint.

In line with Wikipedia's content policies, the image is not used to advance an unsourced interpretation, but to support reader understanding of the kinds of portrayals that can emerge around widely recognised individuals such as Salt Bae.

I could perhaps recaption it as "A 2025 clay caricature of Gökçe in a Sydney public space." removing my subjective analysis but the inclusion of a satire piece does provide relevance and factual value to the article. If the article doesn't include any sourced text about the subject being ridiculed by the general public, we shouldn't add an illustration of that. But even if it did, a child's sculpture isn't a very appropriate illustration for an encyclopedia biography. Belbury (talk) 09:27, 27 March 2026 (UTC)
