bad history

The mandates of Palestine and Syria (incl. Lebanon) came into force simultaneously (League of Nations Official Journal, Vol 3 (1922) p823). And the Israeli state didn't come into existence until 1948. So a lot of the lead is plain wrong. Zero^talk 05:04, 25 September 2009 (UTC)

• Zero, the Franco-British Boundary Agreement of 1920 is legal documentation which legally places Saliha under Lebanese terrritory prior to 1948. Israel may have been formed in 1948 but prior to 1948 there were people who lived in that region, just because it officially became the State of Israel in 1948 doesn't mean we can neglect the past history. By not mentioning any of the previous information you will only be misleading readers. Syria and Lebanon two seperate States under the French mandate. Do not combine. No, you are mistaken. The 1920 agreement only specified an approximate boundary (just 4 sentences devoted to the entire Lebanon-Palestine border) but it established a joint commission to determine the precise boundary. The commission decided to slightly move the border in several places, including where these villages were. Their conclusion was sealed in the 1923 agreement. Governments who make treaties can agree to replace them by different treaties, it is a basic principle of law, so there is no basis for your argument that the 1920 agreement held until 1948. • Zero, that is not the reason I mentioned that part in this article. I mentioned the historical context of this village and to remove that part would be historically inaccurate. We are not debating what held up until 1948 or post 1948, what I am saying and what history agrees with me is the information I posted regarding Lebanon is accurate.
