Replacing Amerindian with Indigenous
[edit]Look, despite what was said 4 years ago the last time it was brought up, I'm pretty sure "Amerindian" is not a broad term used for Indigenous peoples. Maybe it is in the States, but not everywhere else. The term is only used twice in the article, both easily replaced by the word "indigenous"- its simple, neutral, and oh yeah, not an anachronist, colonialist racial slur!
Better yet, if we know the specific names of the Indigenous cultures involved here, why not just use their names and avoid epithets like Amerindian or Indigenous altogether?
It takes quite a lot to motivate me to post on article talk pages. I wasn't about to unilaterally edit a country's wiki article myself even to replace a few instances of one word, I'm not that bold. I just wanted to draw attention to it. Thanks. Goddale120 (talk) 02:42, 4 August 2024 (UTC)
