Help with citations
[edit]Can someone help with the references please? I think the infobox ref tag is messing the in-text citations up for some reason. I did them all the same way and the way I have done them in other articles, so not sure what's wrong. Thanks. PPSE15 (talk) 01:28, 30 May 2015 (UTC)
Why is Dihydrosphingosine redirected to here?
[edit]Dihydrosphingosine and Safingol are different molecules.

- "(−)-threo-Dihydrosphingosine" is listed as a synonym for safingol, so there is a partial match there. It is at least plausible that someone searching the text "dihydrosphingosine" is interested in safingol. However, it certainly may lead to confusion in other cases. The best solution would be to convert the redirect at Dihydrosphingosine into an article and note the similarity/relationship between the two in each article. - Maybe "Dihydrosphingosine" is an umbrella name for both Sphinganine and Safingol? Maybe we should keep Dihydrosphingosine a redirect page that links to both Safingol and Sphinganine (which is another page redirecting to safingol for some reason)? I don't know what's going on here. - That sounds perfectly reasonable to me. Sphinganine does appear to be the more common name for that other chemical compound and dihydrosphingosine is apparently an ambiguous term. I've gone ahead created a stub at sphinganine and a disambig page at dihydrosphingosine. Marbletan (talk) 12:55, 20 August 2025 (UTC)
- Did I make this chembox correctly?

- Looks good, I've incorporated it into sphinganine. Marbletan (talk) 12:55, 20 August 2025 (UTC)
- Nice. Nice. (Two times, the second one for the other reply above.) CheckNineEight (talk) 16:06, 20 August 2025 (UTC)
