Commander's Name
[edit]According to the DK book "The War at Sea", Pommern was captained by Siegfried Boelken. As such, I just added his first name in there. 65.255.147.8 (talk) 19:07, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
"fastest in the world"
[edit]does wikipedia have any rules about self-consistency or anything? this article (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SMS_Pommern) states SMS Pommern was "the fastest pre-dreadnought battleship in the world" and describes its speed as 19 knots but this article (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Italian_battleship_Regina_Margherita) states the Regina Margherita had a speed of 20 knots. It's so glaringly obvious that 20 knots is faster than 19 knots that I'm tempted to edit it, but I really want to be careful because I'm new to Wikipedia Anthonymrainey (talk) 23:51, 18 September 2025 (UTC)

The statement that Pommern was the only battleship being lost during the battle (of Jutland) is obviously wrong. If it refers to the night engagement only, it should be clarified as such. ~2025-37968-84 (talk) 11:22, 2 December 2025 (UTC)
- Please link the other battleship sunk during the battle. Parsecboy (talk) 11:33, 2 December 2025 (UTC)
- To clarify Parsecboy's reply: several British battlecruisers were sunk during the battle, but battlecruisers are treated as distinct from battleships because they were designed differently; see the respective articles for details. Colin Douglas Howell (talk) 02:44, 5 December 2025 (UTC)
She/Her??
[edit]Maybe I'm missing something but why is this ship referred to with she/her instead of it? ~2025-38041-44 (talk) 17:14, 2 December 2025 (UTC)
Discrepancies – complement and secondary armament
[edit]Following the Signpost, I asked Gemini Pro to fact-check the article and it found two discrepancies:
Major Discrepancy. The official design complement (743) contradicts the casualty figure (839), which represents the actual crew aboard during the battle. The crew had been augmented for wartime service. The article should use the 839 figure for the Jutland complement, or clarify the 743 is the peacetime minimum.
Internal Contradiction. The count of the light armament is inconsistent between the ship's infobox/table (20) and the text description (22). 22 is the generally accepted figure for the class as completed.
The complement difference seems to have been an operational issue as noted.
For the light armament, the infobox and body both had a figure of 20 originally but the figure in the body was increased in 2022 by Parsecboy who should please comment.

- Good catch on the number of secondary guns - I don't know where the additional two came from, as all of the sources agree that it was 20 guns, not 22 - I must have been looking at something else. I'll update the article. Parsecboy (talk) 14:15, 3 December 2025 (UTC)
