Name of the observatory
[edit]The name of the observatory is still listed as Hermanus Magnetic Observatory at the INTERMAGNET's List of IMOs and Responsible GINs. Requesting citation for this redirect. Thanks. Trilotat (talk) 15:52, 9 December 2018 (UTC)
- There are a couple of references:
- "...and the Space Science programme (former Hermanus Magnetic Observatory, located in Hermanus)"
- "...Kobus Olckers, a former space weather officer at the centre (when it was the Hermanus Magnetic Observatory, before it became part of Sansa in 2010)"
- Even INTERMAGNET seems somewhat unsure about the name in their minutes "...presented an overview of the 80 - year history of the Hermanus magnetic observatory/SANSA Space Science Division"
- Though this may contradict and indicate that the observatory was not renamed, just integrated into SANSA
- This is Africa, name changes are not always followed through. INTERMAGNET's list may be the more reliable source and the redirect may need to be reversed. --NJR_ZA (talk) 16:18, 9 January 2019 (UTC)
