Black Skimmer

[edit]

The Black Skimmer is not restricted to tropical America. It is seen, albeit not frequently, on the beaches around New York City and has been noted in summer 2005 on one of the waterways in Central Park in that City--70.19.101.128 21:35, 13 July 2005 (UTC).Reply

Disambiguation

[edit]

I'd like to see a disambiguation page here. For me skimmers are a type of dragonflies: see Libellulidae. I do not know what the conventions are here about disambiguation pages, so I'd like to see somebody else do it. Tbc2 17:18, 1 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

I've set it up, jimfbleak 04:50, 2 July 2006 (UTC)Reply

Snotty editors

[edit]

Aside from the wp:tone issue, while it may be true that Rynchops has become the more common name in the literature, it is the misspelling of the latinized form of Greek rhynchops (beakface). It's always worse to be snotty about minor points when you're completely wrong, especially given Linnaeus even fixed his original mistake, only to be ignored.  LlywelynII 07:04, 7 March 2016 (UTC)Reply
