Requested move 11 January 2022

[edit]
The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.

The result of the move request was: Moved back to the prior title.   Amakuru (talk) 11:14, 20 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Ryan J. CondalRyan Condal – Inappropriate move by Joeyconnick to add in the initial. Ryan Condal is named without the initial in many reliable sources, including articles in Variety, Deadline Hollywood, and The Hollywood Reporter, the main three sources that most frequently name him due to his involvement with the entertainment industry. As a result, it violates WP:COMMONNAME in not being concise enough. "Ryan Condal" is sufficient, and there are no other Ryan Condals to be confused with. 10 October 2022 update

[edit]

Here, I updated the article with two new references. In the process, I also restored the previous layout.

  • The "Early life and education" was too short of a section per WP:OVERSECTION and lacked inline citations, giving the impression that the section was unreferenced
  • The "Career" section is a bland titling and had five paragraphs that amounted to a wall of text without any subsections available
  • The "Filmography" section should not be titled as such because a filmography is a list of films (unfortunately a common bad practice on Wikipedia), where "Credits" is suitable. Furthermore, per MOS:TABLECAPTION, the credits table needs a caption

19 February 2026 update

[edit]

I have reverted here edits that removed sourced content and also restored several problematic edits.

  1. The paragraph about Condal and Martin's relationship was completely blanked with no explanation for it.
  2. The added content about the upcoming film Highlander was similarly blanked.
  3. Per WP:LEAD, Condal is most noteworthy as the showrunner of House of the Dragon. He is not a "television producer", which is vague terminology, and his screenwriting credits are not as noteworthy as his showrunning experience. Reliably sourced coverage about his involvement with House of the Dragon is far more repeated than any other work.
  4. Condal has only five works, so it is unnecessary at this time to have separate tables. Furthermore, the tables are inconsistent as seen here, with one showing the heading "films" and the other having none. The TV one also has a "Medium" column that would be unnecessary anyway with the split.
  5. Also undone was the application of MOS:DATATABLES (under MOS:ACCESS) in adding scope="row".

Since the editor appears to have engaged in edit warring recently as seen here, pinging those who have warned them so far to keep an eye on things: Trailblazer101, Manticore. Also going to request a WP:3O since I expect WP:NOTHERE behaving. Erik (talk | contrib) 12:29, 19 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

For what it's worth, I did tweak the first sentence here to try to balance between his general professional identity and the main reason for his notability (House of the Dragon) per MOS:BIOFIRSTSENTENCE. Erik (talk | contrib) 13:19, 19 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

I have noticed that Laddyfisher is intentionally antagonistic and accusatory towards fellow editors whenever there is a disagreement. Trailblazer101🔥 (discuss · contribs) 16:21, 19 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
Sorry that you had to experience this Erik. I concur with Trailblazer101. Unfortunately, Laddyfisher does not seem prepared to discuss their edits or to collaborate positively with others. They assume bad faith, are rude towards other editors, and treat the project as a battleground. Personally, I wouldn't bother with further talk page warnings, just take them straight to WP:ANEW or WP:ANI if there are further issues. — Manticore 11:45, 20 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
From their recent edit summaries, they seem to have accepted the changes. I was wary of it becoming a 1-on-1 showdown out of view from others, so I was trying to be preemptive with notifications. Thanks anyway. Erik (talk | contrib) 12:48, 20 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
