I left the following feedback for the creator/future reviewers while reviewing this article: Please add at least one source for the first paragraph of the Description section. Also, please add a source for the "invented around 1790".

An unsubstantiated and doubtful section, likely the one being referred to as "potentially be original research", was deleted. A reference was added to this article (The Smithsonian's), and three citations were mentioned at the end of the first paragraph that mention this thermometer as being invented in 1790. Two of these citations credit the invention to John Rutherford, but he died in 1789 so he couldn't have invented this thermometer in 1790. The third citation credit this invention to his son, Daniel Rutherford. Due to the uncertainty about who, and when exactly, this thermometer was invented, the following text is mentioned: "It was invented around 1790. Its invention is credited to either John Rutherford or his son Daniel Rutherford, depending on the source." Hopefully someone will be able to find a source that clarifies these aspects.(Entomologger (talk) 16:26, 16 January 2026 (UTC))
