The result of the move request was: Moved. Note that Azerbaijan uses a Latin alphabet. These days we usually spell these players using their full national alphabet so long as they still play in their original country and haven't been 'internationalized' by being covered extensively in the newspapers of another country, where their name might be spelled differently. Arabic is a different case because there is no standard transliteration of an Arabic personal name into a Latin alphabet. See WP:DIACRITICS for more backgound. Ruslan Abishov → Ruslan AbışovRuslan Abışov – The original Azerbaijani spelling. I don't see why my move was reverted back in 2012 and neither do I see any reliable sources where he is mentioned as Abishov. The Other Saluton (talk) 09:25, 23 June 2014 (UTC)

I browsed for a while and I can see lots and lots of Azerbaijani footballers should be moved. This should probably be discussed on a higher level than here. Rasim's surname is just plain incorrect, it's Abuşev ("properly transcribed" as Abushev). The Other Saluton (talk) 04:41, 24 June 2014 (UTC)

Well, I would support that, native English speaking users are able to cope with Turkish fonts, and the only Google Books source in English which has either Abishov/Abışov, Who is Who in Azerbaijan has 2001 Abışov. Those who speak English as a second language (such as the editor below) may indeed find en.wp's use of full fonts more difficult, but it is part of English these days, and of sources. Then why are all the other footballers named according to the original spelling? Hakan Şükür, Karel Poborský, Matthew Špiranović? I can't remember a single exception. Comment. Keep your personal bias to yourself. There are a lot of arabic players, do u write their name in arabic as well? Your point is poor and need more strong argument to support.--Yacatisma (talk) 07:23, 27 June 2014 (UTC)

We are obviously speaking about languages based on the Latin alphabet, other scripts are irrelevant here. Whether you are a native speaker or not has nothing to do with "my personal bias" because you are talking about which letters English speakers "will going to understand".
