Procedure

[edit]

The procedure isn't totally accurate, and will vary with aircraft type, military branch, and possibly even by squadron. A typical fighter-jet overhead pattern is something like 350-360kts at 1,500ft AGL with a 3-4G turn to downwind. External tanks are fitted to fighters for most missions and with that kind of external load "Hi-G" maneuvers (greater than 5-6G) are prohibited.
