Pronunciation

With the Cumbria shootings in the news, I've heard the name of this place pronounced /'raʊrə/ on the television news. Is this indeed the local pronunciation? The input of anyone with local knowledge would be appreciated, and better still would be a reference to a published source such as the Longman Pronunciation Dictionary so that we could put an IPA transcription in the article. As a 3rd generation Rowrah resident I can confirm that the pronunciation, as far as we locals are concerned, is Row-ra. Row like in an argument and ra as in rat. Probably not grammatically correct but the Cumbrian dialect is still quite strong in West Cumbria. For example moudy, is a common term for a mole and water is pronounced wat-ter, wat as in the end of a very rude word and ter as in the deter, the double t makes it quite distinctive! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cumbria marra (talk • contribs) 22:56, 30 January 2017 (UTC)
