Inaccuracy on the Page

[edit]

Hi, I'm the author of MAMA ROSE'S TURN, the biography of Rose Thompson Hovick, mother of actresses Gypsy Rose Lee and June Havoc. I would like to report an innacuracy on the page. Rose's desire for her girls to enter show business did NOT break up her marriage. They didn't even begin dancing lessons until after Rose and her husband Jack Hovick were divorced. The idea of putting the girls in show business only came after Rose saw that her daughter June was a toe-dancing prodigy, which happened over a year after she had already divorced the girls' father.

Sincerely,

Carolyn Quinn Author of MAMA ROSE'S TURN — Preceding unsigned comment added by 146.203.128.25 (talk) 21:01, 25 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

Inaccuracies

[edit]
  • Rose Thompson's birth is reported as 1892 in the US Federal Census, for Seattle, Ward 8, King Co., Washington, ED 114, Pg 7A, lines 5-10 and 31 Aug 1890 in her application for a passport.
  • Rose married Olaf Hovick 28 May 1910 in Seattle.
  • Rose married Judson Brennerman 26 May 1916 in Seattle.
  • Don't know if this is worth noting or not -- Rose was not consistent with her middle name. On her application for a passport she states her middle name is Elizabeth.
