Requested Edits

[edit]

I have a WP: COI as an employee of Robinhood. As instructed by the Contact Us page's instructions for article subjects to contact Wikipedia to make requests regarding articles that are "incomplete, inaccurate, or biased," I would like to request that an independent editor review the following proposed edits. User:BC1278 helped me prepare this request, as a paid consultant.

Thank you.Dpm715 (talk) 20:22, 10 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Below you will see where proposals from your request have been quoted with reviewer decisions and feedback inserted underneath, either accepting, declining or otherwise commenting upon your proposal(s). Please read the enclosed notes within the proposal review section below for information on each request.  Spintendo  03:32, 12 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

@Spintendo:@BC1278: I would like to understand the rational behind approving #6, deleting: "In September 2018, the company's co-founders announced plans to take the company public in 2019.", the reason in the request was it "Violates WP:CrystalBall." However, my understanding is that under WP:CrystalBall: "It is appropriate to report discussion and arguments about the prospects for success of future proposals and projects or whether some development will occur, if discussion is properly referenced." This seems to directly describe and is applicable to the decision at hand. Concluding that any announced plans are not allowed under WP:CrystalBall is unreasonable. Remove the verified badge on the article

[edit]

I just saw this template used on the Robinhood (company) page. It showed a verified badge on the page. This makes no sense in my opinion. Verified badges should not be in existence on the internet, let alone Wikipedia... All it does is make people cringe. Matthew Cenance (talk) 03:21, 29 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

If the use of the "verified" badge is not commonplace, I agree it should be removed. I have not seen it used on other articles in Wikipedia. Jurisdicta (talk) 03:34, 29 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

reviews and google

[edit]

Anyone think it's notable that google deleted 100k negative? Could we add that in after the section about users adding 1 star reviews. [1]

"Google removed at least 100,000 negative reviews of the stock trading app Robinhood from the Google Play app store after angry users sent a flood of critical reviews that caused the app’s rating to plummet on Thursday. The app’s rating went from roughly four stars out of five on Wednesday to just one star on Thursday. Robinhood users were understandably upset after the company halted purchases of GameStop’s stock and other stocks promoted by Reddit’s WallStreetBets community.

A Google spokesperson confirmed the tech giant has deleted the reviews and defended the move overnight, telling Gizmodo over email that it has rules against “coordinated or inorganic reviews.” Gizmodo asked how negative reviews could be deemed “inorganic” when people seem reasonably upset about Robinhood’s actions in recent days. Google stopped responding to Gizmodo’s emails after that inquiry." --160.2.143.157 (talk) 16:18, 29 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Done How does this edit look? Also added a sentence to GameStop short squeeze#Reactions and took a sentence from it about physical protests. — Bilorv (talk) 18:34, 29 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
It looks fine though probably it would be worth adding how the protests came about, which according to the sourcing, was the result of the "call to arms" post made on Reddit. While the Reddit user made the post as a prank and was subsequently banned from r/wallstreetbets for it, I'd think this particular information would be too tangential and I can't find a reliable source for it anyways. I only know it from the subreddit moderators and the prankster's admission. Saucysalsa30 (talk) 04:34, 31 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Would it be fitting to add in that the barrage of negative reviews on the app happened a second time, but this time around were reportedly compliant with Google's review policy and were not removed? [1] Saucysalsa30 (talk) 02:37, 2 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Yep, I'd say go for it, but keep things as concise as you can. Remember to stick to just the things the sources say. — Bilorv (talk) 22:13, 3 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

ADD TO 'REGULATORY ENFORCEMENT' SECTION

In March 2025, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority imposed a $26 million penalty on Robinhood Financial and Robinhood Securities for violating numerous FINRA rules, including failing to establish and implement reasonable anti-money laundering programs, which caused the firms to fail to detect, investigate or report suspicious activity, including manipulative trading, suspicious money movements and instances where customers’ accounts were taken over by third-party hackers. Robinhood Financial was also ordered to pay $3.75 million in restitution to customers whose market orders were collared and canceled, and who then re-entered their orders and received executions at an inferior price."FINRA Orders Robinhood Financial to Pay $3.75 Million in Restitution to Customers; Fines Robinhood Financial and Robinhood Securities for Anti-Money Laundering, Supervisory and Disclosure Violations | FINRA.org". www.finra.org. 7 March 2025. Hi @Tkisbest, it could be good to have a published source (even just one from the company) confirming that this is their new logo. If you have that, you can put {{Edit COI}} above your message so you can have more chances to get a response.
Also, I noticed you didn't specify a license for the new logo – if it isn't either under a free license or below the threshold of originality, then it can't be on Wikimedia Commons even if the company gives permission, and if it is below the threshold of originality, the company's permission doesn't matter either. Permission is only needed in the case the company needs to confirm the logo is under a free license (presumably CC-BY or CC-BY SA), but that license should ideally be specified. Updates to Acquisitions table

[edit]

Thanks Sir Joseph for updating the logo, and also thank you Ptrnext for updating the Acquisitions table. There are just three small things that should be added.

  1. Please add the acquisition of Binc to the table. Binc should be in the second row. It was bought in March 2021, its description is a "Recruiting firm", and the source is [1]
  1. Also, if you could just add the words "AI-powered" to the description of Pluto Capital, so it reads "AI-powered investment research platform."
  1. In the "Price" column, can you please change the heading to "Approximate price"? The reported prices are approximate, and not exact.

Edits to History section

[edit]

Hello. I have the following requests for edits to the History section.

  • Please add the word "commission" and remove the word "addictive" from the last sentence of the first paragraph in the History section so the sentence reads as follows:
They aimed to design a mobile app that was commission-free and easy to use.

" Commission-free" is a more accurate description, whereas "addictive" in this context doesn't seem to meet Wikipedia's strict requirements for NPOV. This statement is the speculative opinion of the author and therefore shouldn't be stated as fact in this entry.

  • Directly after the first paragraph, please add the following sentence:
Tenev and Bhatt served as co-CEOs from 2013 to 2020, when Tenev became the sole CEO and Bhatt became chief creative officer.[1][2]
  • At the end of the next paragraph, at the end of the first sentence, please replace "later that year" with:
in December 2014, on the Apple App Store.[3]
  • After the fifth paragraph that begins "In the second quarter of 2020…" please add the following sentence:
In July 2021, the company went public and was listed on the Nasdaq Exchange.[4][5]
  • In the next to the last paragraph that begins "In March 2025, Robinhood announced…" please add the following sentence after the second sentence, before "In June 2025, the company launched…"
Soon after, Robinhood received its MiFID and MICA licenses, allowing Robinhood Europe to operate as a crypto-asset service provider.[6]
  • After the last sentence of the next to last paragraph, and before the last paragraph, please add the following as a new paragraph:
In July 2025, Robinhood reported 26.7 million customers[7][8] in the U.S. and 30 European Union and European Economic Area countries.[9][10][11]

Pinging Encoded who was helpful with the last edit request. Thanks so much. BlueScope25 (talk) 14:59, 17 September 2025 (UTC)Reply

Partly done. Going to decline the first one as NPOV means all the significant views that have been published by reliable sources on a topic. which it seems to be and I'm not quite sure which second to last paragraph you're referring to for the last one, but otherwise, implemented with this edit. Update and add new section

[edit]

Hello. The following are edit requests to update the page.

  • Please add the following after the first sentence of the "History" section, (after the words 'New York City,' as background and context to how and why Robinhood was founded.
The inspiration for the development of the Robinhood app was a combination of the 2008 financial crisis and the 2011 Occupy Wall Street movement protesting the power of big banks.[1][2] Tenev's wife inspired the name of the app when she told friends that Tenev and Bhatt were building "the Robin Hood of finance."[3]
  • Please add the following sentence to the end of the History section, before the Acquisitions table:
In July 2025, Robinhood reported 26.7 million customers[4][5] in the U.S. and 30 European Union and European Economic Area countries.[6][7][8]
  • Please add the following to the Acquisitions table- In the "Description" column for the company X1, add the following, with the source in the "Ref" column.
Re-branded as the Robinhood Gold Card. [9]
  • Please add a new "Products" section below the "History/Financing history" section (before the Controversies section), with the following new content:
Robinhood has developed and offered a variety of products for its customers over the years, including commission-free equities and options trading; fractional shares; retirement accounts; and crypto trading.[10] Other products and offerings include a 24-hour market,[11] a desktop trading platform,[12] and a prediction markets hub.[13]
Robinhood Gold, a premium subscription offering, was introduced in September 2016.[14]
In 2025, the company also introduced Robinhood Banking[15] and Robinhood Cortex,[16] an AI investment tool.[17]

  • I think the naming is adequately covered in summary style. The statements you prose would need primary source attribution.
  • Added first part. I think a graph of the growth over time would be better
  • No this is promotional
  • This products section you prose is pure promotion. Some of the sources you suggest are good ideas. If you write balanced summaries of these sources that would be welcome content. That could probably be worked in with the structuring of the table as a prose section that I proposed. Czarking0 (talk) 23:39, 1 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
