Notability above just being a mayor...
[edit]His family were notable success-stories as black residents in what was once a majority-white city, which in the late 1800s/early 1900s was known as "the playground of new york". His brother is certainly notable enough for a wikipedia article, I should probably have started there first. Mayor Bowser went on to be the longest-serving african american mayor in east orange.
