Ways to improve

I believe that there are a couple of ways this article may be improved! It would be greatly appreciated if someone would like to take care of one or multiple of these issues.

1. More work could be done in the "Spreading" section as there's too little information regarding newer advances in the field. I also think there should be a part discussing best practices and general industry standards.
2. While corrosion and the hidden costs of road salt, especially sodium chloride, are mentioned, I think more work could be put into describing the specific effects road salt has on infrastructure. In the same vein, we could also explain the effects road salt has on the car body.
3. I don't think the "Environmental Impact" section is exhaustive enough. Long-term accumulation, ecosystem effects, groundwater, wildlife behavior are topics that could use improvement.
4. A section or subsection regarding human health implications should be added.

There's probably more room for expansion, but these are some of the simple improvements I could recall of the top of my head. Cheers :D ~User:Roi.Frvr 07:20, 25 November 2025 (UTC)

Inconsistency

One part of the article says that magnesium chloride damages concrete the most. A subsequent section claims calcium chloride is damaging to concrete. Experts, please make up your minds. ~2026-17167-8 (talk) 19:19, 11 January 2026 (UTC)

This has hopefully improved:) While I'm not an expert, reviewing available sources point towards calcium chloride being less harmful to concrete surfaces, with magnesium chloride doing less damage to plant life. Merge proposal

There's a new article on Brine spreading in Ohio that I think would be better merged here for context and overlap; it also rather duplicates the scope of AquaSalina. So, most of the content could go into the Types of salt section, under a new heading of Oil-field brine, with the dust suppressor material creating a new section under Spreading, which is currently tagged as needing expansion.
