Drug planes

I so wanted to put the rumors of drug planes landing on the back straight in, but couldn't find any references. But now that it is in I can confirm that those rumors have been around for years. I've worked in the racing biz around Atlanta for 15 years and have talked to guys who swore they heard the planes landing at night. Scottanon (talk) 15:05, 16 January 2009 (UTC)

First Race

There appears to be a consensus among a group of Atlanta SCCA members that the first race ever at Road Atlanta was a SCCA regional, not the Can-Am in September of 1970. It’s also been suggested the first SCCA National Championship race was called the American Road Race of Champions (it became the Champion Spark Plug Road Racing Classic – the CSPRRC – later). Lap Records

I saw the recent edit adding the A1GP time from the Mitty this year. Just wanted to note, since this was not during an actual A1GP event, can we be sure that the car was in a proper A1GP configuration? Would this more properly be recorded as a HSR MF1 lap record (as that was the actual class in the event in which the car was competing on that day)? I'm asking because I know that the Panoz which was racing in the same group was not running its original engine. So evidently the HSR results page isn't an authoritative description of the car. Furthermore this time was set in qualifying so is not a race lap record. All that said, I don't believe the time belongs in this table, but I do think it is an interesting data point. I'm not an experienced editor here so I'll refrain from deleting it at this time but I'm curious what others think, and if we have any unified standards for these lap record tables across the site. --Im an alien (talk) 18:42, 26 May 2026 (UTC)
