Post-promotion hook changes for this nom will be logged at Template talk:Did you know nominations/Rizz (slang); consider watching this nomination, if it is successful, until the hook appears on the Main Page.
Article new and long enough, and well cited. Hooks are interesting and are attributed to a source. Proposed image is free to be used on the main page. ALT2, which doesn't have a picture, could be a good hook for the bottom slot. QPQ not required. Styyx (talk) 23:21, 19 December 2023 (UTC)

Add to either existing section, or create new section for earlist/earlier examples of the words usage in pop culture.
'The word appears to have been in use in some form as early as 1999, where the 'Red Dwarf' character Arnold Rimmer uses the phrase 'Giving it rizz' to refer to the act of engaging in sexual intercourse. This occurs during the fourth episode of the eighth season of the British SitCom.
The usage implies a similar meaning to our modern understanding of the word.
The term did not appear to gain much popular use after this instance, until Kai Cenat Popularised it in later in 2021.'

origins of the term rizz
[edit]"rizz" as a term, whilst having been popularised by kai cenat, has it's roots in African American Vernacular English.() (2)This origin is not reflected at all in this article and I see that as a major oversight. 2A04:204:74ED:9300:914:698D:F55A:D481 (talk) 18:17, 25 August 2025 (UTC)
- Red Dwarf Season 8 Episode 4 - Rimmer used Rizz in reference to trying to get Kochanski to sleep with him. Not saying this is the origin, but this puts it being used in British slang in 1999. 192.55.241.101 (talk) 20:24, 12 September 2025 (UTC)

2nd paragraph (Background), remove second instance of word "the" to make grammatical sense.
i.e.
Previous sentence was: "It is believed that the second syllable of the word charisma was taken from the it to create the word rizz, though this belief is not universal."
Suggested corrected sentence: "It is believed that the second syllable of the word charisma was taken from it to create the word rizz, though this belief is not universal." ~2026-55487-6 (talk) 09:14, 26 January 2026 (UTC)
