Common English usage is not correct in every case, and is wrong in most cases. I note the usage in The Rifles regiment, not known as The Rifle regiment. I fear that I am going to have to get to the guideline and thrash that out to stop this ridiculousness--mrg3105 (comms) ♠23:09, 27 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Please note that although the post-Second World War use in the United States may be to use Rifle (singular) the Rifles is applied to other periods in Russian, and is applied in the same way as it is for English units, i.e. in plural--mrg3105 (comms) ♠00:05, 5 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
