@Anythingyouwant, it appears that Charles Thomas reconsidered the inscription on the Penzance cross in 1998 and came to the conclusion that it actually reads RECGISI CRUX or RAEGISI CRUX meaning "the cross of Recgisi or Raegisi". This overturns Macalister's reading and puts much more doubt on the existence of Ricatus - see CISP at PNZAN/1/2, and there's more in Thomas's Penzance Market Cross: a Cornish Wonder re-wondered of 1999 (biblio details on COPAC). Will you amend the article to reflect this latest scholarly interpretation or should I? —SMALLJIM17:32, 13 January 2014 (UTC)Reply
Hi User:Smalljim, and thanks for the info. I guess what you're saying is that the cross may not include the critical word "regis", meaning "king". I think this might be the best source for us to cite: Thomas, Charles. Christian Celts: Messages & Images, p. 186 (Tempus Pub Limited, 1998).
