I would make one change/correction in this article.

My source is direct experience with the subject. Rex Allen was married (his first marriage) to my first cousin, Doris Winsor, and this marriage is what led to his coming east to New Jersey. I knew him very well in those years and he spent considerable time at our house in Cranbury, NJ.

The article speaks of his working in "vaudeville" in the East. I doubt that -- I'm sure I would have been aware of it. Actually, he worked in some no-show-biz job in the Trenton area, and joined a group on the radio there in Trenton -- "The Sunset Roundup" on Station WTTM -- a 5-days-a-week 15-minute broadcast every evening.

I still have a promotional 8x10 photo of that group in my file and will try to enclose it here if I can figure out how to do so -- also a good picture of Elvie (Rex) which he autographed to my Dad ("For Howard From Your 'ole' cousin, Cactus Rex"). He used the "Cactus Rex" name during those years.

Incidentally, Elvie was cross-eyed at that time -- and I believe that Republic Pictures arranged the surgery to correct that when they decided to put him in their movies.

When did he die?

Either:
A. When he was 78
B. Two weeks before he turned 79

Since statement B encapsulates A, but A does not contain the information in B, it would be better to write that he died two weeks before he turned 79, as it was quite close to that. Just my thoughts. Better than constantly re-editing the page. ButterCashier (talk) 18:01, 15 September 2022 (UTC)
