"Half light distance"?

The third sentence of this article uses the term "half light distance". A quick Google search of this term turns up a total of ten hits, with only two of them being independent related uses of the term (five others are this article or copies of it, and three others are unrelated). strange use of terms

Reading this article left me with questions.

  1. The article mentions "Other features visible are a main sequence, and a main sequence turn off, and a red giant branch." The main sequence and the red giant branch are visible features of a statistical diagram, specifically the Hertzsprung–Russell diagram, but not of a galaxy. Those dwarfs may show no branches at all...
  2. How could an overabundance of neutron rich elements in the stars imply, that the r-process is very rare and happend only once in the galaxy? According to my logical understanding, this does not say anything about the overall frequency of such events. And compared to the milky way I would deduce the opposite - that events producing such elements (such as supernovae as well) occured more frequently in this small dwarf galaxy than in the milky way.  Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.146.245.99 (talk) 15:48, 18 August 2025 (UTC)Reply
