In the 1960s, my brothers and I called an excavator a "Reptilicus" because we had seen the movie and didn't know any better. I am watching some destruction and construction right now across the street, and there is Reptilicus again. The long, jointed neck, the jaws... I am not sure how common this was, but every kid in my neighborhood knew "Reptilicus". There was something classic and memorable about this movie.
