[edit]Post-edit documentation (9 November 2025)
[edit]I have completed a substantive rewrite/expansion of the article with the goal of meeting WP:GA criteria.
- Scope and structure: Reworked the lead to define reinnervation and summarize the article. Organized sections as: Overview; Biology and mechanisms; Clinical indications; Surgical approaches (primary repair/grafting; nerve transfers; end-to-side and supercharged end-to-side; targeted muscle/sensory reinnervation); Factors influencing outcomes; Assessment; Applications in spinal cord injury; Complications and limitations; History; See also. Kept topic-level focus and relied on subarticles for procedure-level depth.
- Sourcing and verification (WP:V, WP:MEDRS): Emphasized high-quality secondary sources (systematic/narrative reviews, textbooks, consensus reviews). Representative sources now cited include: Faroni 2015 (J Peripher Nerv Syst); Moore 2014 (Front Neurol); Domeshek 2019 (PRS Global Open); Kuiken 2009 (JAMA) and 2017 (Plast Reconstr Surg); Navarro 2016 (Neural Regen Res); von Guionneau 2020 (J Neurosurg). Avoided primary studies where secondary coverage is available; removed unsourced or poorly sourced claims.
- Neutrality and due weight (WP:NPOV, WP:UNDUE): Balanced benefits and limitations; included complications and factors limiting outcomes. Standardized terminology (e.g., Wallerian degeneration, bands of Büngner) and capitalization; no therapeutic advocacy.
- Style and organization (MOS, WP:LEAD): Lead reflects the body; sections follow conventional order; citation formatting standardized with DOIs/PMIDs where available; overlinking reduced and key terms retained.
- Maintenance notes: Stub template removed as the article now extends beyond stub-level coverage (per WP:STUB). See also list pruned to relevant, existing targets.
Next step: Proceeding to WP:GAN. TheCeeDee (talk) 23:29, 9 November 2025 (UTC)
