Lapland or Celtic?

[edit]

@Omnis Scientia This was recently changed without an apparent source attached? There was no source for lapland, but why was it changed? Jbrill05 (talk) 13:37, 20 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

Still looking for a source but the website I got it from is from Dr Paul Lee who is an excellant researcher on the topic of Titanic. I WOULD use that as a source but it's not allowed on this website. Omnis Scientia (talk) 13:41, 20 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
Yeah, it is essentially his blog. I am familiar with his work and his website, and did read that on his website this morning for his "On this day in history section." I also found this Encyclopedia Titanica thread, but again, just someone asserting it. Jbrill05 (talk) 13:46, 20 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
That's Mr Krom so if he says so it must be correct! He's great at researching into the crew! Alas, it's only a thread so I will have to look some place else for a good source, not just his word on the matter.
Usually websites like these are allowed since they aren't on blogging websites, if that makes sense. However, there was a bit of a tiff in the late 2000s which led to Dr Lee's site no longer being allowed to use on here. It's really unforunate but that's that. Tiff? Was it the thing with Daniel Allen Butler's page? Jbrill05 (talk) 14:17, 20 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
No, it was unrelated to that. I'm not entirely sure but I think what happened was that an IP address was adding his links to every page related to Titanic and they suspected it was Dr Lee himself. Or something like that. I only recently found it because the website is blacklisted as a source. Omnis Scientia (talk) 14:22, 20 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
The thing with Mr Butler's page was Mr Butler himself. If you have your own article, you aren't allowed to edit it since it's a conflict of interest. Omnis Scientia (talk) 14:23, 20 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
But it does seem he returned on the Celtic with Robert Hichens. Usually it's safe to assume though that those who didn't testify at the US inquiry returned on the Lapland but apparently there are a few exceptions, this being one of them. Omnis Scientia (talk) 13:44, 20 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
