Bush and Leinart were not the first Heiman winners to team together. September 21, 1946. Army versus Villanova. The 1945 winner, "Doc" Blachard. Was in the Army starting backfield with the 1946 winner (and 1945 runner-up) Glenn Davis. The pair would make Heisman history later in the season on Novemver 9, 1946 at Yankee Stadium when Army played Notre Dame. Starting for Notre Dame would be 1947 Heisman winner Johnny Lujack and 1949 Heisman Winner Leon Hart. It is the only time four Heisman Trophy winners would take to the field for their teams in a regular season game. Had to think through this a bit more, but Davis and Blachard were both not Heisman trophy winners during the 1946 seasons. Davis wouldn't win until after the season was over.
