Correct full name and place of birth

Full name is Reece Lewis James according to GRO and place of birth is Southwark and not Redbridge. His mother's maiden name is Neil and this is confirmed as it is the same for his sister Lauren. Phildav76 (talk) 22:22, 4 August 2023 (UTC)

I don't think "Recce Lewis James" can be found in any sources I have browsed for. And all links in the Height section above gives London as his birthplace though both Southwark and Redbridge are in London. Original research cannot be allowed on Wikipedia and the 11v11 source gives Redbridge. I can't guarantee any of your information is right here. Iggy (Swan) (Contribs) 13:58, 5 August 2023 (UTC)

Consideration

I think there should be some mention of him being considered as one of the best right backs in the world. He and Alexander-Arnold are often compared and Arnold himself has mention of him being one of the best. AtishT20 (talk) 16:20, 3 December 2023 (UTC)

I'm not a fan of pageviews and Google searches as a marker of significance when historical figures are at play—generally fails to consider item two of WP:PRIMARYTOPIC—but the other topic in this case is an active player, not one from a century ago, in the same discipline. Since the previous discussion, the subject has captained one of the world's largest clubs to multiple major trophies, featured in England's Euro 2020 run, and played a prominent part in a Champions League–winning campaign. With 127 appearances in top-flight football, 18 caps for England, and many a year ahead of him, it's pretty clear he is the PRIMARYTOPIC ahead of the one with 38 substitute appearances in the second division—even born 1999 had more than him at that level in one season on loan. @GiantSnowman: the Anglicisation of names doesn't apply in this instance, it would not be correct to refer to Rhys James as "Reece". By this same logic it could be argued that John Charles should be moved John Charles (footballer) due to the existence of Juan Carlos. Sahaib (talk) 19:04, 15 July 2025 (UTC)

One of the weakest arguments I've genuinely ever, ever seen on here. 'Reece James' and 'Rhys James' are pronounced identically and therefore, essentially, the same name. 'John Charles' and 'Juan Carlos' are nothing alike in that respect. GiantSnowman 19:21, 15 July 2025 (UTC)

But consider Arthur Li and the 10+ people at Arthur Lee (disambiguation), both are pronounced the same so are "essentially, the same name" but are in fact completely unrelated, see Li (surname 李) and Lee (English surname). Using your reasoning Arthur Li should be moved to Arthur Li (politician), as someone typing "Arthur Li" could have been looking for Arthur Lee (diplomat). Sahaib (talk) 19:40, 15 July 2025 (UTC)

He's just in the news. As my summary above recapped, the subject has proven long-term significance over born 1993 as a mainstay in top-flight football and captaining Chelsea to multiple major titles—he is a player who will be remembered in English football for decades. As provable by the example Rhys James article (which is not disambiguated), this subject can be the primary topic for "Reece James". I would, however, support retaining Reece James (disambiguation). Saying "he is a player who will be remembered in English football for decades" is pure OR/POV/CRYSTAL - and he has NOT "captained Chelsea to multiple major titles", they've won the Conference League (the second tier of European football) and the Club World Cup (widely held to be a joke tournament). We inherently have to violate those points to decide whether this satisfies item two of WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. Captaining those campaigns hold far greater long-term significance than a couple EFL League One titles as a substitute.
