Meaning
[edit]"el-haram" does not mean pyramid, it means "sanctuary". Specifically it means "forbidden", as in a place that is forbidden, but this is a common name for shrines and sanctuaries including al-Haram-al-Sharif, al-Haram al-Makki al-Sharif, etc.
If local Egyptians (perhaps the ones living closest to the pyramids?) have taken to calling these pagan burial sites by this name it seems at odds with mainstream Muslim/Arab traditions and it would be good to get a clarification here if not in the article itself.
- Indeed it does. "Haram" (Arabic: هرم) with "H" means pyramid in Arabic. What you are referring to is حرم with a fricative "H" (IPA [ħ])
Red?

Date?
[edit]When was the Red Pyramid built? Rather than provide Common Era dates, the article just says that construction began in the "thirtieth year" of Sneferu's reign, which is no help, since Sneferu reigned only 24 years (circa 2613-2589 BC).Meservy (talk) 03:27, 14 August 2009 (UTC)

Coordinate error of the red pyramid. the decimal amount and the dms amount are not equal.

Declined — Coordinates appear to be correct. I note, however, that if you use the Google Earth "Open" link in GeoHack that it takes you to the wrong place, but if you use the "w/ meta data" link it takes you to the correct place. This is a known problem with the way Google processes some requests (in both Maps and Earth, though not consistently), not a problem with GeoHack or Wikipedia. If you'll use Wikimapia or Acme, the place will always be accurate. I've also never had the Google Earth "w/ meta data" link take me to the wrong place, but with the errors in their other apps... Height, accuracy
[edit]The height is listed as: "105 m (344.5 ft; 200.4 cu)"
That is first an accuracy of 100 cm, then 3 cm, then 5 cm. The original metric value isn't anywhere close to being as accurate as the other two values. Is there a more accurate source of the metric value? Perhaps at least with one decimal.

Location looks incorrect
[edit]The article's first paragraph states that the Red Pyramid is in Cairo, Egypt. However when checking the page about the Dahshur Necropolis and looking on Google Maps, the Red Pyramid is stated/shown to be within Giza and its associated governate, not Cairo. 2601:140:8680:B550:1CCC:BEF3:79AC:921 (talk) 19:24, 17 September 2025 (UTC)
