The "Spears" nickname.

My dad recalls that Ray Whitrod was nicknamed Spears due to his time spent in PNG. Is this worth a mention, if referenced.--Dmol (talk) 10:23, 23 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

My memory says he came to PNG in 1968. The rumour was that a number of PNGC officers were on the fiddle, mostly with payola from Chinese retailers, and Whitrod was going to sort them out. Whitrod ended up being the one who got sent south, as he got up senior colonial noses, by being a stickler for the rules.203.213.61.41 (talk) 13:22, 31 October 2013 (UTC)Reply
