Ring and TBRB rankings
[edit]I have removed The Ring and TBRB rankings from the lead as being WP:UNDUE based on previous discussion at WP:BOXING. Please get consensus before reinstatement per WP:ONUS. Morbidthoughts (talk) 20:04, 5 May 2025 (UTC)
Height
[edit]Lets discuss here if we have disagreement. Songsten (talk) 01:48, 13 July 2025 (UTC)
- Majority of the sources say that he is 5'5". Do you disagree with that statement? GOAT Bones231012 (talk) 01:51, 13 July 2025 (UTC)
- Majority, there's all kinds of sources that list Cardenas from 5'5 to 5'6 to 5'6. So for that reason sanctioning body is the most reliable. Songsten (talk) 01:55, 13 July 2025 (UTC)
- First of all, there is nothing written in the MOS that gives priority of the sanctioning body as a source over anyone else. Second, I’ve seen no source at all list him at 5'6+ 1/2 what are you talking about. While I admit there are some that list him at 5'6, the fact remains that the majority of sources list him at 5'5. - Yes they is no written MOS but when there is multiple sources then it's best to go with sanctioning body.

- Your forgetting I’ve added a source from the WBA which is a sanctioning body. On top of it, multiple sources you’ve cited are not reliable including, Sportskeeda and The Corner Stool… GOAT Bones231012 (talk) 02:22, 13 July 2025 (UTC)
- Yeah and your source of USATODAY is not reliable for boxing and WBA is the most corrupt sanctioning body. Neither is Tapology who had Cardenas at 5'6 when he fought Rodrigo Guerrero, before switching it. So that's why WBC is the most reliable. Songsten (talk) 02:31, 13 July 2025 (UTC)
- Ok now you are just making excuses. I think we should just leave discussion here and let an administrative third party make a decision at this point. You can even ping one if you’d like. GOAT Bones231012 (talk) 02:34, 13 July 2025 (UTC)
- What excuses lol. It's you who's making excuses. When you can see there are multiple sources for his height. So that's why I said lets go with the most reliable which happens to be WBC. Songsten (talk) 02:45, 13 July 2025 (UTC)
- WBC is not the most reliable just because you say it is. Like I said feel free to ping an admin. GOAT Bones231012 (talk) 02:47, 13 July 2025 (UTC)
- If WBC is not reliable than who is, certainty not USAToday. Songsten (talk) 02:50, 13 July 2025 (UTC)
- Ok now you are not understanding English apparently. Where did I say WBC isn’t reliable? All I’ve said is that it isn’t the most reliable just because you said it is. GOAT Bones231012 (talk) 02:52, 13 July 2025 (UTC)
- I understand English perfectly fine. It isn't the most reliable is just a formal way of saying it's not reliable. And In this scenario with so many different sources WBC is the best choice. Songsten (talk) 03:01, 13 July 2025 (UTC)
- It is not a formal way of saying that, don’t know what you’re talking about. GOAT Bones231012 (talk) 03:04, 13 July 2025 (UTC)
- It is because you're basically saying WBC isn't reliable. And if can't agree on which source to go with then why not just leave the height blank. Songsten (talk) 03:15, 13 July 2025 (UTC)
- I am not saying it isn’t reliable, I am just saying it isn’t the most reliable just because you say it is. I don’t get how you still don’t understand that. According to MOS, BoxRec is a sufficient source, so we can always leave it at that. GOAT Bones231012 (talk) 03:24, 13 July 2025 (UTC)
- And if that's the case then why does donaire's page say Showtime Championship Boxing tale of the tape Alexandro Santiago fight in 2023 per WP:BOXING/MOS, tale of the tape from recent fights may be better cited than BoxRec. Like I said lets just leave it blank since there are too many sources. Songsten (talk) 03:33, 13 July 2025 (UTC)
- No it shouldn’t be left blank. The following links are his tale of the tape for his most recent fight with Naoya Inoue:

- So might as well resort to BoxRec. GOAT Bones231012 (talk) 04:06, 13 July 2025 (UTC)
- Why not just leave it blank cause we can both see there are too many sources. But I also have no objection if you want to go with boxrec. I'm fine with either. Songsten (talk) 04:15, 13 July 2025 (UTC)
- Don’t think it’s right for it to be blank, but I can change the reference to BoxRec if you’d like. GOAT Bones231012 (talk) 04:27, 13 July 2025 (UTC)
