Ramnulfid Arms
[edit]I believe that ascribing the arms shown here (Argent, a lion rampant gules) is incorrect for the Ramnulfids. The earliest that I can find a reference to these arms to a Count of Potitiers is for William FitzEmpress, the brother of King Henry II of England. William was the brother-in-law of Eleanor of Aquitaine and not a direct descendent of the Ramnulfid line of counts of Poitiers. It is highly unlikely that any Ramnulfid carried any coat of arms as the last male Ramnulfid count of Poitiers (and Duke of Aquitaine) was William X, who died in 1137, about a half a century before armorial bearings became popular. These arms should be removed from this page unless someone can verify that any of the Ramnulfid counts actually used them. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.255.127.122 (talk) 23:12, 4 September 2015 (UTC)
