Year of birth disputed
[edit]Some sources cite 1896, others (including findmypast.co.uk) cite 1904. Since we cannot tell, best to leave as is -- year of birth uncertain, as is that of his mother, actress Mary Forbes. According to this Detroit border crossing travel document, dated October 4, 1925, Forbes gave his age as 21, which would fit with a 1904 year of birth. This Birth Registration (extract) also appears to give 1904 as his year of birth. Any ideas? Quis separabit? 23:57, 17 September 2015 (UTC)
- I personally prefer 1904, but some censuses indicate 1903, and other sources still cite 1896. There is no smoking gun yet, although I previously thought there was (findmypast.co.uk and ancestry.com). His mother's date/year of birth is even more unclear and no info on father or stepfather. Only Ralph's sister -- Brenda -- seems to be OK (unanimously sourced 1909 year of birth). Quis separabit? 12:46, 20 September 2015 (UTC)
