Possible coming name change.

Something to keep an eye on. Maybe even include in the article (pre-namechange)?

The PWI is currently having a vote on changing (updating) their name to the Railway Engineering Institution (RailEI).

Correct, thank you. On their page regarding the vote, they have published the results and its effect: https://www.thepwi.org/about/our-next-chapter/ However, I am somehow missing either independent reports or at least an official press/news statement by the PWI/RailEI, which they haven't released on their newspage: https://www.thepwi.org/news/. Either to use as a source link to quote for the new name.

So: yes, the namechange is coming into effect, but has not yet been publicly announced, nor has it even happened to the website itself yet (or in general actually). So I guess we will still want to wait, before we implement any relating change to the article.

Implemented name-change

As I have seen, that the namechange has alread (at least partially) been implemented in the article, yet wothout any source cited, I checked on the PWI/RailEI's website, and gathered the following:

1) News dated February 17, 2026 announcing the (legal) namechange, also showing the current updated logo (which could also be included in the article): https://www.railei.org/the-permanent-way-institution-becomes-railway-engineering-institution-railei/

2) The official URL has changed! (See previous link also.) With the previous URL redirecting to the new one. RaphaelNikolaus0486 (talk) 20:18, 15 April 2026 (UTC)

I've started on a bit of an overhaul of the page in order to make it more like a proper engineering institution. Requires more citations - which I'll get to - but trying to get the structure and feel of the page right first. Also somewhat complicated by PWI name being retained by many overseas sections - not Ireland or India by the looks of it though. Oleg mcnoleg (talk) 03:13, 29 April 2026 (UTC)

Not sure what relevance this has to the PWI/RailEI page.
