Direction of first racking turn

[edit]

Just as an aside, ABOK shows the "Racking bend" #1462 with the first racking turn being taken toward the standing side of the bight, rather than the short end. However The Ultimate Encyclopedia of Knots & Ropework by Budworth shows a knot very similar to the one currently illustrated by Image:Racking Bend.jpg, with the first turn towards the short end. When the article is expanded, a note on these variations should be made. I have been unable to find any commentary regarding their relative merits. --Dfred 16:04, 18 November 2006 (UTC)Reply
