Summary Version of Proposed Plans
[edit]For Racial capitalism, I am part of a course learning how to use WikiEdu. This is my chosen article and these are my proposed changes: For Racial capitalism I would change the wording of “Israeli-Palestinian conflict” because when you click on that article link and it states that “Israelis and Palestinians are engaged in an ongoing military and political conflict about land and self-determination” As this is a site often visited by scholars and academics, accurate information is vital for both understanding of and public perception of the genocide.
While the above is a minor change, a more major change would include updating the “Critiques” portion and including a new section of “Current literature” which could provide further scholarship and discussion of racial capitalism. The article currently states that, “current literature does not specify a single set of causal relations or connections between them [race and capitalism]; thus the concept of racial capitalism does not accurately reflect a sociological theory.” However, I believe through my research I have found more modern theories in the humanities and social sciences that have explained the intersection of racial capitalism, specifically in the context of the United States. Adding a portion including this and editing the information in the Critiques section, or possibly adding an additional section of its’ own with more modern theories/scholarship on this would provide a more timely lens on the matter, especially since many of the world’s current issues and almost every one of our sectors and areas includes an aspect of racial capitalism.
