BLP cleanup and content update: Fletcher Section

[edit]

BLP cleanup and content update: Fletcher section
I have replaced the existing Fletcher paragraph with a revised version on the following grounds:

1. Removed "before her contract expired" Unsourced negative implication about a living person. Under WP:BLP, such material must be removed when unsourced. The verified fact of her departure date and emerita appointment is retained.

2. Removed "illegally" A legal characterization of a living person requires that reliable sources themselves apply that specific framing. The cited sources document a naming controversy and its resolution but do not themselves characterize the action as illegal. Wikipedia's own voice should not exceed what its sources establish, per WP:BLPCRIME.

3. Removed the rebranding episode While cited to reliable sources, the episode is a minor internal institutional matter that carries disproportionate weight relative to the subject's overall profile as a major international climate and development figure. Retaining it at this length fails the proportionality standard under WP:UNDUE.

4. Removed leadership style criticism sentence Supported only by a Reddit thread, which is explicitly not a reliable source under WP:RS, and a student newspaper op-ed, which reflects individual opinion rather than editorially accountable fact-finding. Neither meets the threshold for negative material about a living person under WP:BLP.

5. Added Master of Global Affairs degree Sourced to a Tufts Daily news article (2021) focused specifically on the program's introduction. This is a notable institutional development that occurred during her tenure and is appropriate to her biographical record. Cloudchaser92 (talk) 16:10, 20 May 2026 (UTC)
