Academic debate[who?] has suggested that homophobia explains why the decision seems inconsistent with logic. The ruling may well not be followed in future cases, although it remains 'good' (i.e. authoritative) law.

[edit]The Baker quotes don't seem to exist- unless I'm misreading them, looking at all the sourced articles I can't find the full quotes anywhere, some parts aren't even mentioned in the cited articles and none are as written here that I can see.
