Requested Move

Disagree Whilst I can understand the reasoning behind the request to rename the article (in order to standardise all radio stations to using the official ACMA callsign) however the station identifier (used in the press) is what people are aware of not the ACMA callsign. This identifier is used throughout wikipedia in a varierty of articles - in order to minimise confusion that will no doubtly arise through renaming the article I would suggest that there be a redirect from RTRFM to 6RTR at the very least. Name origin seems spurious

The name RTRFM is a contraction of "aRTy Radio". This appears entirely spurious. I was there at the time and nobody remembered who thought of the name or what it meant! I wrote this in Party Fears at the time, in the interregnum when the station wasn't on air in 1991:

The callsign for the station is 6-RTR-FM (Rocket To Russia? Road To Ruin? It actually doesnt stand for anything — it was picked ‘cos X-Press printed it as being this. True. Where they got it is a mystery.)

I'll let someone else decide the RS-ness of a home-made fanzine, if a prominent one that won an award. Might count as a newsblog by an expert, your call - David Gerard (talk) 11:33, 19 July 2026 (UTC)

Added here, 2007-09-27, by someone who hasn't edited in a looong time. I've removed the claim as uncited and spurious. Needs a cite earlier than September 2007, and preferably 1991 - David Gerard (talk) 15:14, 19 July 2026 (UTC)
