Radio Télévision Belge Francophone
[edit]The official website gives the official name as Radio Télévision Belge Francophone. I'm updating the article accordingly.--Ultimate Destiny (talk) 14:49, 4 October 2011 (UTC)
- The fourth management contract between the Gouvernement de la Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles (previously, Gouvernement de la Communauté française de Belgique) and RTBF names the latter body as Radio-Télévision belge de la Communauté française. This contract, which came into effect on 1 January 2013, was due to expire on 31 December 2017 but it appears to have been extended while consultations on a new 2018-22 contract continue. Meanwhile, official documents (including RTBF's own website) now refer to RTBF as Radio-Télévision belge de la Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles. See, for example, : La Radio-télévision belge de la Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles (RTBF) est une entreprise publique autonome à caractère culturel.
- I haven't yet tracked down an exact date for when this change took place, but it does seem clear that RTBF has never stood for "Radio Télévision Belge Francophone" – even though that phrase (French-speaking Belgian radio and television) has, of course, been used from time to time (even by RTBF) as a description of the organization's role.
